Las luces de Navidad iluminan la Plaza de San Pedro en el Vaticano (FOTOS)

El pesebre y el árbol de Navidad instalados en el centro de la Plaza de San Pedro del Vaticano ya están iluminados.

Los peregrinos y visitantes que se acerquen hasta el Vaticano podrán admirar el impresionante árbol de 25 metros de altura traído desde Polonia y decorado por niños enfermos de cáncer, así como el pesebre de estilo napolitano de 80 metros cuadrados de superficie, inspirado en las obras de misericordia.





El Papa Francisco agradeció personalmente a los donantes del árbol de Navidad y del pesebre en una audiencia celebrada previamente en el Aula Pablo VI y les recordó la importancia de la simbología de estos dos elementos en la celebración cristiana de la Navidad.

“Cada año el pesebre y el árbol de Navidad nos hablan con su lenguaje simbólico. Hacen más visible todo aquello que acogemos en la experiencia del nacimiento del Hijo de Dios. Son los signos de la compasión del Padre celeste, de su participación y de la cercanía a la humanidad que no es abandonada en la noche de los tiempos, sino que es acompañada en las dificultades”, señaló el Santo Padre.

Sobre el árbol, explicó que “se alza hacia arriba estimulándonos a tender la mano hacia los dones más altos, a levantarnos por encima de las nieblas que nos nublan para experimentar todo lo bello y alegre de la inmensa luz de Cristo”.

“El árbol, proveniente este año de Polonia, es un signo de la fe de aquel pueblo que, también con este gesto, ha querido expresar su fidelidad a la sede de Pedro”, subrayó.

Francisco se dirigió a continuación a los niños que participaron en la decoración del árbol y les agradeció su trabajo. “Con vuestro trabajo habéis transmitido vuestros sueños y vuestros deseos de mirar al cielo y de dar a conocer a Jesús, que se hace niño como vosotros para deciros que os quiere bien. Gracias por vuestro testimonio, por haber hecho estas decoraciones navideñas que los peregrinos y visitantes provenientes de todo el mundo podrán admirar”.

Les aseguró que al encender las luces del árbol y del pesebre “también los deseos que habéis compartido con vuestros trabajos de decoración del árbol se iluminarán a la vista de todos”.

Después, el Pontífice reflexionó sobre el significado de la representación del pesebre: “En la simplicidad del pesebre encontramos y contemplamos la ternura de Dios que se manifiesta en la del Niño Jesús”.

“El pesebre, este año, realizado en la típica expresión del arte napolitana, está inspirado en las obras de misericordia. Nos recuerda que el Señor dijo: ‘Todo lo que le queráis que los demás os hagan a vosotros, hacédselo vosotros a ellos’”, señaló.

El Papa afirmó que “el pesebre es el lugar donde contemplamos a Jesús que, asumiendo sobre sí la miseria del hombre, nos invita a hacer otro tanto por medio de las acciones de misericordia”.
